284058 2004-10-24 04:14:00 I've sent a query to Epson but I've had no reply. I'm using an Epson Stylus Color 670 printer which I'm pretty happy with. But I would like to reset the default to "B&W" rather than "Color". Anyone got any suggestions?

284059 2004-10-24 05:10:00 Hello and welcome to Press F1.

have you had a look at this page (support2.epson.net) in the online reference guide? The full version available of the guide is available here (support2.epson.net) and there are other resources available here (support2.epson.net) (about half way down).

If these don't help then post a reply back here.

Andrew.

284060 2004-10-24 08:42:00 Am I missing something? I've been through all this. I'm looking for a setting that gives me B&W rather than Color without all the frigging about.

Epson printers still use the colour cartridges when printing black and white.
How do you get grey scale, by toning with other colours

To answer your question I dont think what you are asking is possible, I know of no other printer manufacturer that allows this default to be set. I suppose the logic behind that is why buy a colour printer if you what to do only black and white prints. I do agree you should be able toset your printer up as you wish A set as default function would be nice

284062 2004-10-24 23:28:00 Most of the time I only want B&W prints. I'm sure I've read somewhere that there is a way of changing the default setting.
Btw did you know that that the low/zero ink message is a con? I always take the cartridge out and then put it back. Magic, the ink mysteriously gets replenished.
