2004-10-26 06:10:00 | well, we did do romeo and juliet and 10 poems (only for internals though) and that was easy as well. But apparently, AS literature is too hard. We're doing that next year. Thats our only english option. Only that or NCEA. I think its william blake next year......... | static (4108) | |
2004-10-26 06:33:00 | Yea, same with our guys... only did it for the purpose so that won't be struggling as bad next year. But they havn't done it in half as deep as we have. Like, how many people honestly knew that Romeo and Juliet had a theme of human faith and religion retreating before the motions of science and reality...?

2004-10-26 06:47:00 | Yeah we did some essays on the philosophy of Romeo and Juliet. We wrote a page (at least) of notes on each scene in the book. We also did heaps of character studies (especially on Friar Laurence and Juliet). We did a study on Juliet and her ethics (how many 13 yr old girls do u know who kiss a guy the first time she sees him and then marries him the next day ? | static (4108) | |
2004-10-26 06:47:00 | What i do love about NCEA compared to cambridge is that i can get away doing no work in a couple of my subjects (physics and economics) and get straight excellences. Lol although it is a crap system, it is a lot less work than cambridge although i'd much rather have bursary - David

2004-10-26 08:06:00 | o - and i also forgot to say i fulling agree with Growlys "Why I hate NCEA" post. Its a joke to me as well, and some of the incidences he has stated have affected me. Another thing that has peeved me off (and my mates) MANY times is when you get a test back, and say You get a Achieved overall, but when you look at your 'marks' there is like 3 catergories - and to get Ex, u need Ex in each catergory, and usually i have 2 catergories with Ex, and one with A, so overall - you get an Achieved. This really sucks, as even tho you have done pretty good in some areas, one area has pulled you way back down to the same level (and who's to know you get a HIGH acheived) as people who just passed with teh skin of their teeth. If it was a SC paper - you would have got something easily over 70%, but now you get a crap mark worth only 50% (as stated on the stupid Grade Averages) But i guess its not going to change, so might as well get used to it
