284891 2004-10-26 09:15:00 Hi, my Adobe PDF writer (old version which came free with photoshop years ago) has worked perfectly for years. We needed to re-format the drive and had to re-load it. Since then it will write to every program except Excel. I've tried setting print area, reinstalling, repairing Office 2000 and other bits, but to no avail. It just prints a blank document. Has anyone had experience with this before? Thanks for your help!
Cheers :-)

284892 2004-10-26 11:40:00 What process do you go through to create the pdf?
Do you file > print > select the pdf printer

284893 2004-10-26 20:53:00 HI Rob, Thanks for your reply! :-) Yes, we do file>Print>Pdf writer. It then saves the file as usual, but when you go to look at the file, it's blank. Any help much appreciated as I use this daily! Cheers Lynda elkay (6325)
284894 2004-10-26 23:04:00 Is there an option to write to a CSV (Comma Separated Value) file? parry (27)
284895 2004-10-27 00:03:00 No, no other option but pdf. Have been right through every possible setup option and tried ticking this and unticking that - still a blank. Ran a Print Test Page from the PDF printer and that worked fine. It's just Excel. Sigh! elkay (6325)
284896 2004-10-27 00:29:00 I don't think that's what parry meant.

Create a file in Excel, the save-as a csv file (File of type - csv)

Then try printing from Excel into PDF.

284898 2004-10-27 00:49:00 Does Word work? Rob99 (151)
284899 2004-10-27 00:56:00 Now it's getting interesting!! I saved the excel document as a CSV file and then printed successfully to pdf. [problem is that CSV doesn't inlcude all the formatting and setting out on the document so still not really useful]

Yes, Word documents will print to pdf, however this particular document (it's an invoice) can't be opened successfully in Word. I'm now guessing it may be something that needs re-setting within Excel, rather than the pdf???? Thanks for your help - appreciated!

284900 2004-10-27 02:19:00 My apologies I thought you were going from PDF to Excel rather than the other way. It certainly can be done because theres add-ins to achieve this, however they cost money.

My understanding is that Distiller (& hopefully your version) installs an Adobe printer. Im not sure how successfull this will be but select File|Print then change the printer to the Adobe printer and hopefully it will create a file. The name/destinaion of the file are part of the printer settings I believe.

If that doesnt work you may have to hunt for a free PDF writer that will hopefully for it. I have found one here (http://www.primopdf.com/) but its slow as molasses so cant vouch for it.
