285831 2004-10-28 22:21:00 Good morning fellow computer cowboys.....

I've got a PC at work with two operating systems. I need both of them on there, but one of them is seldom used.

Is there a way that I can turn the OS select screen (on bootup) on and off? So it boots straigh into my default OS every time?

Ta.

I dont think you can turn it off, but you can set it to start default, without interaction.

285834 2004-10-28 22:27:00 XP Pro and XP Home. Yeah, yeah......don't ask.

How do you set it to start the default without interaction?

285836 2004-10-28 22:45:00 Which o/s is in first partition?

Are you using hardware profiles as well? There is a setting in H/W profiles that can effect this, but the last operating system should start buy default.

In that confguration I would set XP PRO in the last partition, as it is the senior operating system.

Do you have a primary partition and partitions in a logical drive, or 2 primary partitions.

If you have two primary partitions the default os control should be in your boot loader/manager settings.

Godfarther,

Will this not be a permanent fix, requireing manual replacment of the entry to enable starting of the O/S in question?

Thats the control box I was looking for, in xp there are M/S options to do as camo wants.

Havent had to change it for a while, must start to make a list of all the little things I forget.

You must only adjust this setting in the last O/S, or set them the same in both (Cant remember which) or they will fight/conflict between the O/Se's.
