| 285618 | 2004-10-28 10:06:00 | Helloooo, Father is being EXTREMELY strict - decided to mount on existing TV antenna pole, which is out of line of sight because of one or two trees or even a few branches. My question, will there be too much signal loss from a 25dBi antenna (to another 25dBi antenna) through said tress over a distance of about a kilometre? Network card generates 15dbm if that's useful. |

All you can do is try it, but with 25dbi at each end you should be OK. Keep the coax as short as practicable and use the highest quality low-loss you can find. Remind your father that your respective roles may reverse in years to come, when he is in his dotage, and he wouldn't want you to be harbouring festering grievances over antenna installations.
