285623 2004-10-28 09:14:00 Hi All

Probably a pretty basic question. Sometimes my computer is downloading a "Windows update"?? and I can see via the dialup modem status box that I am connected to a specific IP address eg 203.211.23.23 How can I trace where I am connected ie can you trace the IP address to a specific site? If so how? Am to hold my hand to my heart & hope that that massive update is really from the MSoft giant or can I really check to see that I am not connected as a zombie? I have ZoneAlarm as a firewall but would like to know where I am connected on occasion.

Also if I am connected to http://www.whocares.com how can I convert / see what IP address number eg 203.210.23.20 I am connected to?

Thanks in advance

285624 2004-10-28 09:24:00 Probably an easier way but if you are using XP - open the Run box (Windows Key + R), type cmd and ENTER.

Once in there type "nslookup www.pressf1.co.nz" for instance...

this will display your server name and ip and Press F1s server name and ip

285626 2004-10-28 10:18:00 According to PingPlotter the IP 203.211.23.23 goes to
Target Name: 23.23.211.203.dynamic.ttn.net
IP: 203.211.23.23
Date/Time: 28/10/2004 23:14:32
