| 286287 | 2004-10-30 03:49:00 | I have 2 Seagate 120Gb SATA drives. Last week I downloaded and installed Everest Home Edition (following discussions here). When I look at the drives (using Storage then SMART I get nothing. The online manual for the drives states This drive is shipped with S.M.A.R.T. features disabled. How do I enable these features? Cheers Miami |

| 286288 | 2004-10-30 03:55:00 | Some BIOS'es have this option. Go into the BIOS under the primary / secondary ide device. The smart option maybe there. | Spacemannz (808) | ||

I guess I should add my system specs in case they are relevant. Mobo - ASUS P4P800 Deluxe HDD - Seagate SATA 120Gb O/S - Win XP Pro SP2 Cheers Miami |

| 286293 | 2004-10-30 05:27:00 | I've never had an Asus board, but do they hide BIOS options like Gigabyte do? To get any SMART options I have to push Ctrl + F1 in the main menu ... | Azsen (155) | ||
| 286294 | 2004-10-30 05:28:00 | Hi Spacemannz, BIOS version is 080009. On the MAIN screen I see: System Time/Date etc, then Primary IDE Master.........................[My DVD ROM drive] Primary IDE Slave...........................[Not Detected] Secondary IDE Master....................[My DVD Burner drive] Secondary IDE Slave......................[Not Detected] IDE Configuration System Information There is no sign of my SATA drives. There never has been. The system works fine, but I thought I might as well use all the features of the drives. What else can I be doing wrong? |

| 286295 | 2004-10-30 05:49:00 | Umm if the satas arent being recognised, Did you connect power to them inside the case?? The connection on the mobo doesnt supply power to the sata, only the data . You need 2 spare molex plugs and adapter (if the power supply doesnt have sata power adaptors on it) . Your previous post should also have 3rd Ide Master and 4th IDE Master on the main screen in the BIOS . (does it show Third and Fourth IDE Master at all)?? CD roms and dvd'd cant have smart . This only applies to hdd's . If you dont have Third or/and Fourth IDE Master in the BIOS, how exactly is it getting into Windows, with no hard drive?? If you have XP/2000, under ide configuration, it SHOULD also be set to Enhanced mode for SATA . And compatible mode for 98/ME/NT . How many hdd's are in the case the 2 SATA's and an IDE?? 2 or 3?? If so, the hdd with Windows on it, what ide connection is it on right now? Coz it definitely isnt showing a hdd, in the previous post you sent . |

Additionally, during boot up, I get a screen headed VIA VT6410 RAID BIOS tool V2 . 11, followed by: Scan devices . . . . . . . Primary Master - No device Primary Slave - No device Secondary Master - No device Secondary Slave - No device Have I got wrong drivers loaded somewhere? If so, why does the system work? > If you have XP/2000, under ide configuration, it > SHOULD also be set to Enhanced mode for SATA .
