| 286152 | 2004-10-30 01:23:00 | I am having a problem with my modem, on fresh bootup i can connect not a problem, but when i disconnect then go back on later its still trying to tell me im still connected, i right click my connection and it has the disconnect faded out and there is no connect there. but if i log out its the same if i reboot i can connect again any help would be appreciated. also having a small prob with internet explorer im happily doing whatever and all of a sudden it will close, no warnings or anything. pleaseeeeee help its driving me nuts lol. | lisamarieo1 (301) | ||

| 286159 | 2004-10-30 22:33:00 | Because Nortons products integrate themselves that heavily into the Os nothing would surprise me. I don't know if your connection problems started when you installed or changed a setting in Nortons but my money says it's likely to have something to do with it. Only way to find out is to completely remove Nortons (everything) if the problem still persists then at least it can be discounted. Trouble is, even a complete uninstall of Nortons it will leave behind hundreds of files & settings that could still affect some OS settings. You need to be reasonably experienced to get rid of the lot, ie. hidden files, reg entries etc Have you tried a system restore to before Nortons installation? If all works well, then dump all sys restore points create a new one then reinstall Nortons A couple of hours reading all the help files that come with the product won't do any harm either to gain an understanding of how it actually works. |
