| 285986 | 2004-10-29 08:15:00 | Can anyone remember the name of a TV series shown in the late 60's early 70's about a Oil Exploration/Production company. I think it was something like MARAC. The series portrayed executive management problems regarding exploration of Oil throughout the world. Cant remember the name, hope you can help. Thanks - John in Mosgiel |

| 285992 | 2004-10-30 02:37:00 | The Plane Makers was one of my favourites of that era, starring Patrick Wymark, and the later follow on, The Power Game. Patrick Wymark's character in both series was a dead ringer for my father-in-law, in looks and manner, and dad in law being a powerful Fleet Street Advertising Excecutive thought Wymark was the bees knees. There was one episode of Plane Makers where their test pilot nearly bought it in a fighter because the cold air unit (CAU) bearings seized up and he nearly cooked. During the same week of the programme, about 2 days later, exactly the same thing happened to a test pilot attempting an air speed record in Libya. Talk about realism! www.sixtiescity.com |
