| 286385 | 2004-10-30 22:00:00 | Hi, I've been trying to use the IIS to host my website on a no-ip.com account, but everytime I go to that website, it asks for a password, and then logs on to my ADSL configuration page. I've yet to try it on another computer, but I would be grateful if someone could tell me if this is normal, or whether it has something to do with my ADSL modem. The same happens if I type in my IP address in the address bar. |

You also need to set a port forward on the ADSL router to forward port 80 to the internal machine running the IIS server (though using IIS in itself is a gaping security risk). Even still a lot of routers will automatically direct you to their web-configs. Mine does, even if I address it by it's external IP. You might be able to change the port the web interface runs on to get around this. |

| 286387 | 2004-10-31 22:03:00 | I've solved it! I just had to configure a Virtual Server on my ADSL config. It turns out that the only way I can access my site on my computer is through "http://localhost", and that the IP address is reserved for outside access. Thanks for your help, anyway. |

EG your outside IP might be 203.109.252.42 and your internal IP might be 192.168.17.1 an outside user will use www.your-domain.no-ip.info and the no-ip servers will give back the 203.109.252.42 IP if you add 192.168.17.1 to your host file then you can have www.your-domanjin.no-ip.info point to 192.168.17.1 from that system only and htis means that all your bookmarks will be the same as if you are outside. this is improtant if you want to use HTTPS or cookies. |
