286538 2004-11-01 02:35:00 I can do it for you JJJJ if you want. Have to look around for one of the holders, but bound to find one off an old motherboard. Pheonix (280)

286540 2004-11-01 04:13:00 Mate send it to me,i'm itching to replace it with an AMD set-up and then charge ya the earth for it,Hell i'll even list it as a Pentium 5 on the docket. metla (154)
286541 2004-11-01 04:16:00 Hey Jack, you want to trade that board in on a new one? metla (154)
286542 2004-11-01 04:16:00 You could also use hi-temp hot melt glue (the type you get in those craft glue guns) to hold the battery in the holder. As long as your battery case is not too near any large heat source, the glue will hold up fine. Many PC assemblers also use this glue themselves for holding things in place inside the PC case. 286543 2004-11-01 04:28:00 Could it be that the broken battery clip is just the perfect excuse to get your hands on a new mobo??? ;)

Otherwise it is a pretty drastic solution as has been mentioned...

286544 2004-11-01 07:32:00 No it's not an excuse to buy a new one. I was quite happy with it. But I don't like patched up things.
Metla as a trade in it would probably be worth nothing by the time I get it out. My biggest worry is trying to get a nre m/b in.
Don't know what I'll do about it yet. Might buy a new comp. Trouble is this one is only ten months old.

286545 2004-11-01 07:41:00 I know what you mean about patched up things but in this case, if it works, and there are no issues with whatever you hold it in with, dont fret about it. Hot glue as some suggested would probably do the job applied judiciously. The pc company did this for years with giant mounds of the stuff draped across cards and mobo without any adverse affects (well perhaps they are not the best example ). Best solution lock down battery with what ever u wish and put side back on case and forget about it. the highlander (245)
286546 2004-11-02 02:10:00 So, Jack, what are you going to do? :-) Susan B (19)
286547 2004-11-02 02:22:00 Jack replacing the entire PC or motherboard is completly overkill. Someone has already offered to replace the battery holder for you, why not take them up on the offer?

Although replacing the entire PC might not be such a bad idea, atleast you could replace you P4 with a real CPU ;)
