| 286873 | 2004-11-01 22:09:00 | I have upgraded my computer. It was a Pentium II and is now an Athlon 1.2. I have added a CD Writer on the secondary IDE channel. My old Hard Drive was an ATA 33 6.2 GB. I have now changed it to a Western Digital 120 GB ATA 100. There is only one drive. It works fine but when I boot the computer the flash screen reports 120 GB ATA 33. The motherboard supports ATA 33 to 100. The BIOS has been set to AUTO. How do I get the BIOS to report and run ATA 100. The Hard Drive jumpers are set as advised by the manufacturer. |

| 286875 | 2004-11-02 00:56:00 | Come on, metla, don't hide the information . You need a new IDE cable . The flat cable with 40 wires is not good enough for the much higher data transfer rate . The new ones have 80 wires, arranged in pairs of (signal/earth) . The interface can tell the difference, and doesn't even try to run at the higher speed with an old cable :D |
