286660 2004-11-01 00:16:00 Hi Guys,

I tried to setup Apache 2.0.43 on my WinXP machine today, but it gives me the error "no services installed". I spent hours fiddling around with the config files etc, but to no avail. In the end I decided to go with the Webserv package, which is theoretically a complete install package with no config.

However, same problem. I did a quick search and found instructions to run apache2.exe with the arguments "-k install", but I don't even have an apache2.exe. That seems bad to me...

:P

Anybody know how to fix this?

Cheers,

Erin

286662 2004-11-01 01:50:00 Hi,

I think I'm making progress here. I uninstalled it (which didn't get rid of all of it, so I removed the files, registry setting etc), and had another go. This time again it didn't work, but I did at least have an Apache.exe file, which I ran with the "-k install" arguments, and it was added to the services list successfully.

Now I'm just playing around to see if it will serve my pages properly... Having a bit of teething trouble, but I think it's just temporary.

Worth noting that in order to run both IIS & Apache (or any two http servers) on one box, you need either two IP addresses, or two ports. I've set Apache to use Port 81, and IIS to use port 80 (standard).

Cheers,

Erin
