287461 2004-11-03 07:24:00 I am running Windows XP home edition and have Service pack 2 installed.

The Date in the desk tray, where the time is displayed, is malfunctioning.

When I place the cursor over the time the date comes up ie:
"wednesday, 3 mmmm 2004"

This also effects MS Word when using insert date/time etc.
This is what I get using the above date "Wednesday, 3 1515 2004"

I use up to date virus protection and have used "Registry Mechanic" to check the integrity of my machine. Any advise on how to repair or what ever would be most appreciative

with respect

287462 2004-11-03 08:00:00 This happened to me a few weeks ago & lasted for about a fortnight & it just went away one day
Don't know what caused it or what fixed it either

The other check is in your BIOS |Standard CMOS Features but be very sure you know what you are doing

Thank you for your reply.
I do not feel alone out here now knowing some one else has had the same problem:-)

I am an inpatient person and do not know if I can wait a few weeks, but what has to be will be.

Once again thanks

Thank you for your response to my dilemma.

Yes I have done the "Date Time / Check settings" thingy and all looks there as it should be.

Went to the BIOS and all seems to be A OK with that to.

This is just a pain in the proverbial and it does not seem to go away.

Thanks again

287466 2004-11-04 07:26:00 Possible the motherboard battery is dying??-- it has a more technical name than that (CMOS battery??) but just can't think of it! Chemical Ali (118)
287467 2004-11-04 07:54:00 Could it be something to do with the Internet time server?

What time server are you using?

287468 2004-11-04 09:30:00 Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Regional Options Tab

Customize... button > Date tab

Try changing the layout order of the date then switch back to see if the canges stick.

Are your caps correct here? You get 4 lowercase "m"s?

If so, then open your regional settings from Control Panel, click the "Date" tab, and find where it lists something like "dddd, d mmmm, yyyy" (possibly under "long date format" or similar? I'm not using XP here at work) and change the lowercase mmmm to uppercase.
