287270 2004-11-02 20:56:00 Greetings all i'm back

ICQ works fine now, (this was from a previous post of mine)

but now the boss of the boss wants me to chat using NSN messenger(it allows three way conferencing), and i want to know any tips on how to lock it down,
as in preventing it autostarting and things to watch out for (the things microsoft doesn't mention)
thanks

Nigel

287271 2004-11-02 21:05:00 Here's a couple of tips ...
Open the Windows Messenger and go to Tools / Options and select the "Preferences" tab.
Un-check the boxes marked "Run this program when Windows starts" and "Run this program in the
background". Click OK, then close the program.
Also another place To disable Windows Messenger from loading you will need to open
Outlook Express: Tools > Options > General. Remove tick from beside "Automatically log on to Windows Messenger"

That should do it.

Really? I have used MSN Messenger for a few years now and have not had any success in trying this out. I am not aware of this function, that's why I am also now using Yahoo Messenger.

MSN Messenger only allows for multiple people talking if you are all typing. You can only talk and view webcam with one other person, as far as I know.

Configuring wise, you can go into MSN Messenger. Click on Tools>Options>General tab, then under the Sign In heading, you should find the settings you require altered.
