| 287100 | 2004-11-02 07:57:00 | I have always wondered if there is a computer museum, here in NZ ? Probably there is such a museum on the Net somewhere but I have not done a search. Dunno about anyone else, but I would find it interesting to see what home PC's were like15 or 20 years ago, as well as the Pac Man games etc etc - - preferably in a unit that actually still runs. What about TePapa? I don't recall any such exhibit. It seems strange that since home computers (and associated technology) is so pervasive and nearly essential these days, that there isn't a museum that holds the history intact. Any thoughts? |

| 287103 | 2004-11-02 08:29:00 | Thanks. The one in Dunedin looks great, but the one in Wanganui appears to be a private collection since there is no info on public access. Still, it would seem that the main centres should have at least an exhibit (perhaps travelling around the country, as museum exhibits do...) or a room devoted to historical computers / technology. |

| 287106 | 2004-11-02 08:45:00 | The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia does have a computer section including the 1st Apple computer, Sinclair ZX82's, Commodore Vic 20 and other weird and wonderful devices, also pre consumer computers driven by valves etc. Was a fascinating look last time i was over there. |
