2004-11-02 09:28:00 | They will look at you and go " FPS " and then start talking about quantum science and how to split the atom five times | ApeNz (4220) | |

2004-11-02 10:03:00 | Beaten with a bat, . . . . but in a Benny Hill comedy kind of way,i could imagine them in shock as you powered down the nasa supercomputer so you could load up XP and then give farcry a work out . Yep,i think they would have you beaten .

2004-11-02 10:19:00 | You would get better FPS on the NSA setup . Look at this article here . dansdata . com/spacecomp . htm" target="_blank">www . dansdata . com 386 sx20s run the International Space Station :-)

2004-11-03 00:31:00 | The basic problem is that the game has not been written to run on a teraflop class computer . At best it would run on one processor of the array, so would run at the speed to be expected on a processor of that speed . Supercomputers are used on super problems . Super problems are the only ones which can repay the huge amount of programming work needed to make use of the super computers . Most of the hugely parallel supercomputers are using Linux . . . because it's there, it's free, and it works . NASA people built the first Beowulf cluster from a roomful of 486s stored before being sold as surplus . They didn't have money to buy a new big computer so they made one . I'm not sure about the big Japanese one . . . they could well have written their own OS .

2004-11-03 01:31:00 | Seeing as super computers dont have high end graphics cards you'd probably get worse performance than an average desktop PC. I guess you could use software rendering but it would look crap. | Pete O'Neil (250) | |
