286973 2004-11-02 02:41:00 Hi, does google have one of those? I know they have those big MB/GB allowances ... If it does, does it allow the person to upload a photo that is 6x4 inch or larger and it would be that. I use Yahoo and the dan thing is if I upload 6x4 inch @ 72dpi jpeg it shrinks the photo down. I am also thinking about Pbase.com which I think is quite good in that way and it extracts the technical info for you like camera settings, its not free but not too bad pricing nevertheless. nomad (3693)

286975 2004-11-02 05:37:00 Hi Nomad, For the purposes of uploading images for viewing on screen, forget about DPI & inches. Thats for printing or scanning.

When you uploaded a 6 x 4" @ 72dpi, of course it was shrinked.

6 x 4" @ 72dpi = 432 x 288 pixels, and thats small on screen.

Better to resize the image in a photo editor, & choose a pixel width of 600 to 800 pixels. That will show your image larger on screen. OK?

PS. Many thanks to Rob for the HP link. For 9 months my HP Scanjet would not work, due to IE script errors. Tried everything. HP helpdesk, HP online help, asked on forums, nothing worked.

But that link Rob appears to be a different or later site that had the exact solution for the script errors. Downloaded & installed the MS Data Access Components, and WOW, the scanner works fine.. Thanks Rob.

286976 2004-11-02 06:55:00 Yahoo shrinks it. I know cos I open the file via IE on my computer but Yahoo is so small. The photo are so different when uploaded on Pbase or on Yahoo. nomad (3693)
286977 2004-11-02 07:10:00 Yahoo is stingy.
I uploaded a pix which is by screen size, 1280x851 (pixels).
I uploaded this. Then the photo was small. I downloaded this photo and check the size out in Photoshop it was 480x319 (pixels).
