287688 2004-11-04 01:06:00 Hi.

I have office 97 installed on my winxp pro laptop. When I open an xl or word file I get the following errors popping up.

XL- A document with the name Blahblah.xls is already open. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the two documents are in different folders.

Word- C:\…..\A\pricing.doc is being used by “MY Name”. Do you want to make a copy?

I am not on any network and I get the errors even if I open the files from a clean desktop.

Can anyone solve this occasionally frustrating problem?

287693 2004-11-04 10:00:00 Yes, but you need to install SP1 then SP2 POTUS (5276)
287694 2004-11-04 19:31:00 Avoid some confusion here POTUS, SR1 and SR2 (Service Packs for Office 97) are needed.

Not SP1 and SP2 (Service Packs for XP).
