288097 2004-11-05 02:25:00 The new ATI chipset will support both PCIe and LGA7. You probably wont start to see motherboards based on it for another month but it might be worth waiting for. Pete O'Neil (250)
288098 2004-11-05 02:32:00 And in another month there'll be the next "new technology which will obsolete everything" wonderful thing to look forward to. With this approach you can avoid buying anything. Very economical :D Graham L (2)
288099 2004-11-05 02:39:00 Graham the new Intel 9XX chipsets arent all they're hyped up to be, there not even in the same league as the older 8XX chipset. The 915 only outperforms the older 875 by a few %, the only real benefit they have is the support for PCIe, which funnily enough isnt all that its hyped up to be either. Pete O'Neil (250)
288100 2004-11-05 02:45:00 nothing is all it's hyped up to be. I don't buy any computer hardware until it's obsolete. That way the price is always right. :D Graham L (2)
288101 2004-11-05 09:05:00 >Yeah,I quite like Transcend ram and i would take it over Legend,Bear in mind this is my personal opinion and i dont have any data to back that up<

I don't have anything to back it up either but I have opposite opinion. Never had a bad stick yet and it overclocks moderately and reasonably stably.
diverging a little
Metla A Shop I deal with ocasionally started putting A-data ram in its systems and I moaned like hell (shades of pc comp A data ram) but they claimed they had obtained the a -grade A data ram not the pc company buy by the container load variety ) Any validity in that ? Do companies ship out standard ram in different grades to reatailers ? I'm not talking about matched pairs with heatsinks and led lights just your basic ram here.

288102 2004-11-05 09:13:00 Its news to me.I would say they putting a spin on it,otherwise known as the evil art of marketing,..Cheap ram is cheap because they make it cheaply, use cheap materials, and cheap manufacturing process, cheap quality control.

Its its under gone more intesive quality control and made with higher quality materials then the price will reflect that.

Having said that i would not put it past the PC company to buy the worst of the worst in bulk.....

Thought that might be the case.
I guy who I trust worked at the pc company for 2 weeks (around 4 months before they went belly up) told me that they had an average 65% failure rate on a data ram. no company could sustain that rate of rma but he said all bad ram was just binned-- period. He got the impression they were dealing with already rejected/substandard ram and they were no rma's on it.

288104 2004-11-05 10:14:00 yes they will work, normally. I ran 2 sticks of corsair xms ddr400, and 1 stick of old RamBo ddr400 (3x512mb sticks) in dual channel on my ga-7n400-l1 for a while, worked perfectly, but then i have heard otehr people complain about compatibility issues.

meh, maybe i just got lucky

I've just being looking at the TwinMos. How would you rate these? Better or worse than Transcend? But then, I see Transcend with Jetram, Samsung and TwinMos chips. How would they rate in order. I fail to find any comparsion reports on such things. I am assuming that there wouldnt be much difference between TwinMos and Transcend with TwinMos chips.

Mainly considering Transcend Jetram vs. TwinMos, as Samsung is somewhat out of reach.
