| 287707 | 2004-11-03 21:11:00 | Always the optomist. I've just bought a new Dynalink external modem and I'm very happy with it. I've now got four modems sitting here. The Dynalink seems to be about 25% faster than any of the others. And I had always avoided Dynalink. I have a theory that the most advertisd products are rubbish. The others. D-Link external. second fastest. US Robotics message modem. A disappointment. Ambient.ext. Biggest problem with it is that Windows reckons it's an Intel and wanted to load drivers for it everytime I booted. AND the Windows driver didn't work with it. My theory is the Dynalink is faster because it comes with it's own drivers. The first two use just the Windows drivers. Jack |

| 287709 | 2004-11-03 21:26:00 | I use a dynalink internal here, with XP's drivers. XP detected and installed the drivers for it automatically. I tried the drivers on the dynalink site once, and they were hopeless lol. They lagged too much. So, the manufacturer's drivers AREN'T always the best to use. In this case, the Windows driver was better than the later version of the driver for the same modem from the site. |

Dynalink modems have always been extremely well regarded products. Did you think to look at reviews or other information before buying the other four? |
