| 288521 | 2004-11-06 08:11:00 | Hi everyone. I've just started having a few... issues... with using P2P and Zonealarm. Here's the story. I've got Zonealarm Pro v. 5.1.033.000 running. I've also got eMule v. 0.44b, WinMX v. 3.53, SharaAza v. 2.1.0.0 and KaZaA Lite v. 2.0.0 (quite a few aren't there ;)) installed. I *would* say running, and they are, but they can't be used. eMule connects, and the search works, but it dosen't want to download anything WinMX works, but searchs are allways around 0.1kB, regardless of the type of host., and what programs I use, and what time it is Sharaaza connects, but dosen't search KaZaA can't even connect to the network These programs have all worked before, but since I upgraded to Zonealarm 5.1.033 they don't work. Uninstalling then installing 5.1.011 dosen't work either Also FTP clients (except Windows Explorer and FTP voyager) don't get the directory listing, whether it's ilikelinux's server or orcon freehost Has anyone had this problem, and a solution before? XP HE, 56K dial-up. Thanks, MM :) |

| 288523 | 2004-11-06 17:16:00 | Are you using SP2?? Coz that'll lower the tcp/ip stack for programs like P2P. MS lowered the amount of connections in SP2. |

| 288524 | 2004-11-06 22:11:00 | ah, found the solution. I'd opened the ports before, but it was a matter of allowing all the .exes to have no monitoring :) | Megaman (344) | ||
| 288525 | 2004-11-07 03:18:00 | gaaaah! it broke again! I've been to the zonelabs forums, and the emule forums, and reserched. Z-labe blames emule (and other p2p apps). emuld (and other p2p apps) blame zonealarm. so i'm going round in circles, and i've decided to switch to a firewall that's known to work does anyone have any idea which would be ideal to switch from zonealarm to? i've been informed that kerio and outpost work perfectly. anyone had any experience with these two? thanks, MM :) |
