288437 2004-11-07 04:23:00 640x480 is low-res video???

It states on the Theora Downloads that it currently only provides a command-line interface. That's fine though, try this:
Click Start
Click Run
Type:
cmd
If you're running Win9x, then type:
command

Now, type:
cd \
This will take you to your C: Drive root folder. Navigate to the folder with the ffmpeg2theora-0.10.2.exe file and type:
ffmpeg2theora-0.10.2.exe inputvideo.avi

Might pay to rename the ffmpeg2theora-0.10.2.exe to something like TheoraEnc.exe so its easier to type :-)

I downloaded the Music Video "Concord Dawn - Morning Light.mpg".
I encoded it (Slightly faster than Real-Time on an 800Mhz P3) and it went from 38.6MB to a tiny 11.7MB!

288439 2004-11-09 01:47:00 Hello? JimboJones (1680)
288440 2004-11-09 01:56:00 Try renaming the file so there's no spaces in it. Chilling_Silence (9)
288441 2004-11-09 08:17:00 Check to see that you have the latest Virtual Dub. Should be 1.5.10.
Click File/Open video file.
Click Video/full processing mode/& Compression
Select Indeo(R) Video R3.2 /OK
If it has sound Click Audio/ Full processing mode
Click Audio again/ Select Compression/ MPEG layer 3/ Then compression rate from the list
Click File/ Select Save as AVI/ Then name your file in the box & save.
Use a new name so that your original file is not deleted or overwritten

This may not work but I have other remedys.
Post back with the results

288442 2004-11-09 10:02:00 Yup, I got it to work, but I'm not too happy with the results.
There are these swirl line things.

288443 2004-11-09 10:09:00 Oh the price we pay for compression..... ;-) Chilling_Silence (9)
288444 2004-11-09 18:37:00 OK
Follow the instructions as before except
Select DivX 5.11 Codec instead of the Indeo R3.2.Codec

Delete your previous saved Indeo file and start again from the original.

You can experiment with VirtualDub as much as you want to because it makes its own copy an leaves the original untouched.

If you dont get a good result with the DivX codec then make a complete uncompressed copy of your video using the instructions as before then redo the video with the DivX codec starting with the uncompressed file. Dont forget to save with a new name each time, and its a good idea to delete any failed attempts before starting again.
Let me know how your doing. Ill be back about 4pm
