288421 2004-11-06 01:22:00 Hello Folks.
Spybot tells me that I have "CoolWWWSearch.WinRes" ...& can't get rid of it! Did a 'Google', the only references to this nasty seem to be
Spybot S&D stuff, which is odd in itself! ie. It doesn't seem to effect the 'puter in any way (hijackers, etc)...It refers to it being in
'Trusted Sites' ...I don't have any!
Could this be another Spybot false positive ??
Running 98SE...Ad-Aware doesn't see it at all
Both prog's have latest updates
Spybot didn't find it 'til the latest update, also odd, to me anyway!
Help with this one please.
Regards.

288422 2004-11-06 01:30:00 If it's a newly spotted nasty, one detector might see it while another doesn't.

If I was trying to insert code on your computer I would try to make it appear to have come from a "Trusted Site". :D

False positives will always be a problem. It's impossible to prevent them.

288425 2004-11-06 10:39:00 Ok, what has happened is that the guy that wrote and updated CWShredder has changed directions and issued his last version.

It seems that Intermute has picked up CWShredder now. So you will need to modifiy your link to here (www.majorgeeks.com)

288426 2004-11-06 14:02:00 Thanks to all.
I have a question. Are "CoolWebSearch" & "CoolWWWSearch"
one & the same thing?...I have run 'CWshredder' ...= clean system
also ran "delcwssk"...also clean!...Also did a (new) "hijack this"...nothing nasty found!...I guess I'll have to take Spybot returns with a grain of salt. in future....pity!
Thanks to all who replied.
Regards.
