| 289172 | 2004-11-08 00:21:00 | IBM ThinkPad R32 Is it possible/likely to damage the DVD/CDRW drive by carrying the laptop around with a disk in the drive. The Laptop pauses for several minutes during boot after the devices have been detected but before windows loads and sometimes the DVD/CDRW is not available in Windows. If the drive is removed the laptop boots normally. |

| 289174 | 2004-11-08 00:43:00 | Does the laptop pause when you have the disc in the drive? It may be reading the disc to see if it is a boot disc. Check your BIOS settings and select boot from HDD first. If the drive is not being detected properly it may be faulty. Is it still under warranty? |

The drive is being detected by the bios but the system pauses several minutes before moving to the next screen > Is it still under warranty? Yes, but it was replaced 3 months ago with the same problem. |
