289079 2004-11-07 19:03:00 Hi amazing PF1 people, you guys are cool and have been of great assistance to me. Here's another problem. I have an Acer TravelMate 230 laptop (12 months old) running XP with SP2. The HD is split 10GB on C:/ and 10GB on D:/. The problem is, there is only 8% space left on C:/, but 80% free of D:/. With such a small amount of space left on the "operating system / programmes" drive (C:/) I can't defrag. Is there any SAFE way to re-proportion the partition sizes to say 13GB on C:/ and 7GB on D:/. BUT heres the catch, I DO NOT want to have to reload the system. If this can be done, can you please tell me in simple english as I'm not really that computer literate, but can find my way round with instruction. Thanks heaps, Aporosa Aporosa (5671)
289080 2004-11-07 19:34:00 Hi Aporosa , if you don't mind spending some $$ Partition magic would do this for you - it costs about $120 new [ about $70 academic] or you could look for a second hand copy on trade me etc . I believe the new version [8.0] requires product activation , whereas earlier versions did not .
Otherwise FAQ 's 42 and 43 of this forum have a lot of info re partitioning which may help
