288787 2004-11-09 05:26:00 I think I've found the problem:

sal.neoburn.net

SMART is disabled on the SATA drive for some weird reason. :| SMART is enabled in the BIOS and works on the IDE drives...

288788 2004-11-09 05:46:00 Umm u sure thats a SATA? the hdd with no name??

As an icon will appear but with no name, if u have something like a card reader or a digital cam with a memory card slot as well.

So u have 3 hdd's??

288790 2004-11-09 06:17:00 Yep I'm pretty sure it's the 3rd hard drive it's partially picking up. alphazulusixeightniner (185)
288791 2004-11-09 06:22:00 Because I have 2 hdds in this (1 120gb sata, and a 80gb IDE both partitioned) .

But 2 icons with no names on them appear in hdd health as well .

I would say the icons with no names, are either the partition/s of the 2 with names, or the internal card reader, (which is H-K in XP) or the digital cam memory slot (D) .

And coz neither have smart, it doesnt show the info .

288792 2004-11-09 06:34:00 What sort of motherboard do you have?

I might email the Mobo manufacturer and ask why it isn't enabling SMART on the SATA drive.
