| 289939 | 2004-11-10 03:32:00 | Hi Team Does anybody know where I can buy a PC card video adaptor (video card) so that I can run dual monitors with independent displays on my Toshiba Portege 3490CT laptop? Unfortunately the 3490 only supports simultaneous display. I believe Appian make a card called Traveler but they don't seem to be supported in NZ. I'm not averse to buying second-hand if anybody has one they want to dispose of. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 289941 | 2004-11-10 04:09:00 | Thanks Marlboro. Unfortunately the 3490 is only USB 1. It supports dual monitors all right, but only as simultaneous display as far as I can tell from the manual. I actually need a second video card to get dual-independent displays. Sadly it doesn't look like the Appian PC card video adaptor is available in NZ, and nor is the Margi equivalent. I guess everybody just buys bigger and better laptops than I can afford with two video channels built in. :( Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 289942 | 2004-11-10 07:12:00 | Well, after hours of searching I finally found a product: the VTBook by Village Tronic. Only problem is the price! $A450 from Expansys Australia on 22 day delivery. The alternative might be a dual monitor video card from another model of Toshiba laptop, preferably second hand from one that has been wrecked. I have a sinking feeling though, that there is probably no space inside a Portege to actually fit such a card. Anybody know what models of Toshiba laptop offered dual monitor support (with independent display, not simultaneous)? Back to the search. :( Cheers Billy 8-{) |
