:^O Yeah but I think it's worse than that. 640x480 with no AA or AF on most TVs.

Yeah but what's a HD TV worth? $5000? $10000? $15000? Having to pay that much for some nice graphics isn't very good. :| I'm happy with my high spec PC and $1100 worth of fast response LCD goodness. Much better than a plasma TV and equivalent size to a 21" CRT anyway.

Consoles can't provide a better video quality gaming experience to a PC. They also lack in sound as well unless you have some sort of 5.1 setup.

Hey, no argument from me. Just saying it looked much better than the average console setup :D

I was hugely excited to find Sonic was available for the GBA, so I bought it for my daughter. Problem is, I can't get it off her :(

Hi, I've got a problem.I downloaded the texture file and now have a file called
NZ150.BLG. But I can't open it . Windows doesn't want to know and win-zip won't do a thing. What do I do with it?

It's not a texture file, its the mesh data for the scenery. FS uses mesh data - geographical elevation data - to make the elevation shape of the terrain. By default, most of the terrain in FS is sampled at 1km points, which is why even mountains look flat and smooth. When you are sampling points 1KM apart it smooths out all the sharp elevation changes.

That file you've got is sampled at 150 metres apart and thus does a significantly better job of showing the terrain.

There should be a readme file in the zip that covers installation. But anyhow, basically in your scenery directory in FS (I use the one called "addon scenery" for this) create a new folder and call it "NZ150" (can be whatever you like but this is as good as anything).

In that folder create two other folders called:

scenery
textures

You don't need to put anything in the textures folder, FS just expects it to be there. But put the NZ150.BGL file in the scenery folder.

Now fire up FS, and go to the Scenery Library (don't have FS at work so can't remember the exact location of this). From there you "add" a new scenery location by browsing to that NZ150 directory and clicking on it. You then need to move it up the order of listed sceneries so it's at the top. You may need to restart FS once you've done this.

Actually, before you do any of this, go to Milford sound, take off and then save your flight.

Once you've done the installation, reload that saved flight. If you did it right you'll see an immediate improvement in scenery.
