289807 2004-11-09 14:12:00 I frequently use Gov't documents and rather than endless downloads I would like to save copies to my own PC. No editing is required, and all entries to the forms must be hand written - their rules.
Why can't I "Save a Copy". The "Save a Copy" button is highlighted in the toolbar. Any attempt returns the message "The document could not be saved. This operation is not permitted".

Grateful of any help
AG

289808 2004-11-09 17:25:00 Hi AG :)

Have a read of this (www.adobe.com) for that error message. There are several solutions to try, one of which should resolve your problem.

289809 2004-11-09 17:55:00 Hi there
One problem with keeping copy’s of forms is that you may end up filling out a form which is not correct. If the Gov't makes an amendment to a form, you would not know about it until you are asked to resubmit the form on the correct up-to-date one. This would be the reason that they don't want you to save copies of forms. It would cause delays in processing if they had to keep returning them to people who have used outdated forms. If you still want to keep copies, it would be wise to check the issue date of the one you have save and compare it to the one on the Gov't site. It should be on the form somewhere.

Cheers

289810 2004-11-09 19:59:00 When downloading the form, right click and "save as" in a folder.
From there you can open and print.

289811 2004-11-10 00:08:00 Thanks all.

Tried the "Detect and Repair", only get a tiny little icon top left of browser page since then. Any help there?
The "Save target as" option does work though, so part of the battle won.

289812 2004-11-10 00:47:00 From memory, there have been some problems with v6 & XP. I have stuck to v5 so this may be option for you.
