| 1374459 | 2014-05-08 07:42:00 | In case any of you have been following me through my decision to home build a rival to Alienware in a 7 year old Acer case.... Today I fitted an Asus DVD drive (www.playtech.co.nz) with SATA connection to replace the old IDE connected one. Whilst at Playtec I was tempted by and ultimately weakened by a Bitfenix 4 port USB3 Hub (www.playtech.co.nz) which is now located below my old card reader in the spare 3.5" bay. As an artist you can never have too many USB ports (I have images on USB sticks everywhere and my random filing system produces some great inspiration!):illogical I also plucked up the courage to pull every single panel off the chassis to give me access to places where I could tidy messy wiring and provide a deeper understanding of the mysterious LED bundle. While everything was exposed I thoroughly cleaned every mm of the case and chassis; in the process I vacuumed up all the case screws.:horrified (Job for the morning - empty the vacuum bag carefully) After checking, checking and rechecking every connection my new creation is sitting pristinely awaiting its power switch connectors to arrive in the post. I feel like Dr Frankenstein awaiting the thunderstorm |
