1374341 2014-05-07 05:20:00 Hey guys,

I think my PC has a problem.
I can't run any media player as sound then stutters and loses sound altogether, and windows explorer not responds every time I right click or try and copy or paste something.
I found it is on only ONE of my drives, as I booted using only one. I tried to format the 'Infected' drive, but it said it was running in another process? Note this drive does not have windows. I tried downloading Eraser, so I plugged the drive in, then I accidentally clicked refresh (It happens), anyway when the computer restarted, The infected drive was gone. Non existent. Note it is still physically plugged in. Then I shut down my PC, plugged and unplugged the infected HDD, then started it up again and there it was. Then I ran Eraser to format it, but Eraser said "Attempted to run a disk that is not in that path" or something, then stopped. Help!

P.S. I am running Windows 7

1374342 2014-05-07 05:23:00 And this drive you tried to format is it internal or external? If its external chuck it in the case. Do a quick format with windows. If that doesnt work boot into safe mode and do a scan for viruses Speedy Gonzales (78)
1374343 2014-05-07 11:47:00 Internal, and can't as "Drive is in use for other processes" and also Safe mode I cant use because my mouse uses a driver darkoverlord123 (16996)
1374344 2014-05-07 20:03:00 A mouse should work in safe mode. I've never seen one that doesnt work in safe mode Speedy Gonzales (78)
1374345 2014-05-07 23:14:00 Disk testing & partitioning software often unmounts the drive it's working on so that it has exclusive access while it's working which is why the drive disappeared most likely.
Did you try just using windows disk management tools? Right click my computer, chose manage, select disk management - you can format & partition from there.
You could also run a windows disk check to look for errors. 3rd party tools can be great but you should probably start with the built in ones first.

As to your media playback issues, it could be a lot of things so what makes you suspect a virus? It could be drivers, software, hardware, etc. Does the problem happen playing back files located on either drive? or just one, when you copy - paste is it always non responsive or just when copying between drives? What anti-virus and anti malware software are you running if any and have you tried a scan?

1374346 2014-05-15 06:05:00 I was torrenting a file, ran smoothly. Until it didn't play, I deleted it, Then the problems started. I can't access my secondary HDD which the file was downloaded onto, as it will turn up at the start, then disappear as I try to copy valuable data off of the drive to my main windows drive. Ran Anti Malware, Ran Avast, neither of them helped. HELP PLEASE! darkoverlord123 (16996)
1374347 2014-05-15 06:08:00 Disable system restore. Is there anything else that doesnt work atm?? ie: task manager / regedit / security center etc? If ccleaner is installed, go to tools/startup save as text file. Post it here

Or boot into safe mode / networking put teamviewer on it. And I'll have a look if you want

1374348 2014-05-15 20:46:00 Nah nothing else is broken (So far!), and I don't have ccleaner, and I can't boot into safe mode as my gaming mouse drivers don't work. darkoverlord123 (16996)
1374349 2014-05-15 20:58:00 Kill system restore then. And if you want install teamviewer, then give me the ID and pw it gives you in a PM Speedy Gonzales (78)
1374350 2014-05-16 06:14:00 Tried booting in safe mode, but mouse wouldn't work (Logitech G400s), even tried every port. Disk didnt show up when I booted in safe mode. darkoverlord123 (16996)
