1373728 2014-04-28 23:33:00 So I got my laptop from a previous thread all up and working and now I discover a weird keyboard issue. The numeric keypad and a few other keys down that end all seem to output 2 characters when pushed. It's not a driver issue as it has problems navigating the BIOS and both windows and Linux have the same issues.

If I push the first 3 number keys as an example I get this 1872*3, Do you think it's worth replacing the keyboard, has anyone seen this before, and how hard is replacing a laptop keyboard?
It's an HP DV6-6102axand it all seems to be working fine otherwise.

1373729 2014-04-28 23:49:00 If its similar to this netbook, the kb screws will be underneath (on this one there's 4 screws).

It'll have a kb symbol where the screws are for the kb. All I did was unscrew them, turn it over use something to prise the keyboard out. With something plastic if you've got something. It may scratch the top if you use something metal.

Detach it from the connector, replace it.

I had a similar prob the home keys on the old keyboard were dead, so I got the sis in oz to buy one off ebay. I replaced it, and its been good since

1373731 2014-04-29 01:33:00 Thanks Alex tried that, looked like a liquid spill once I managed to get the keyboard off so I'm guessing that's the problem. Now to source a replacement dugimodo (138)

1373734 2014-05-02 05:02:00 Sweet I just received the wireless PCI-E card for this laptop just after 12 today from the US. Not bad ordered it on 24/4. Not inc (Anzac, Sat and Sun). Thats pretty good - 5 days.

You have to be careful with buying different PCI-E cards for stupid HP laptops. Since the BIOS on them WILL only work with HP cards. They've got like whitelists (so they only except certain cards - HP cards)

The wireless card I brought was a Azure something Qualcomm card. It brought up an error 14 as soon as I installed it / turned it on. Which means its not supported.

I had to find a modified BIOS update (same version, which removes this whitelist from the BIOS then reflash the BIOS), So it'd work with any brand or model of PCI-E card that you put in it. And it did. So, I'm happy.

So if anyone has an HP mini 311-1110TU and they change the wireless card in it to something else, let me know. I'll give you this modified BIOS update

1373736 2014-05-02 05:41:00 Turns out the new keyboard is a UK one so I had to find where to set that, but that's a minor inconvenience and all sorted now.
I can now navigate the BIOS without the constant beeping and errors from doubled up key presses :)
