1358066 2013-10-31 01:50:00 Is this on the original motor? Most vehicles don't seem to get past the 300,000 Km mark unless they have been really well looked after.

Japanese motors go for ages, had several well past 300,000 and the motor wasn't what killed them....

Anyway, happy guy with spare motor bought ute, it will apparently have a gruntier motor installed.

Husband getting used to the idea of his new (used) 4wd Carib station wagon.

At least he won't have lines of traffic behind him everywhere he goes now.....

If you pick the right model Jap car , it will easily do 300K+ , without being looked after. Some other models will be writen off well before then, you need to pick the reliable model.
Once they get highish milage/age, most owners stop spending any money on them, but they can still just keep chugging along , as per my last 2 cars 323/laser: Ive seen these for sale with 400Km+ & still going .

1358068 2013-10-31 03:20:00 It's not new, my first car was a 1971 toyota corona with 220, 000 Miles on the clock when I bought it. It lasted me a couple of years before I destroyed it - more to do with my age and driving habits than the car though.

The Carib is another one with a reputation for reliability, basically just a 4WD variant of a corolla if I'm thinking of the right one. An ex workmate had a Caldina, he called it a cockroach because it was ugly and wouldn't die.

Then we must have just sold a cockroach......it wasn't dead, just a bit unwell.
And it sure was ugly.
