1356172 2013-10-17 09:44:00 Did you check out the Galaxy Note 10.1 3G?

Yeah, It just didn't grab me. I'll take another look.

1356173 2013-10-17 11:18:00 I think they should *try* the Nexus 7, they'd likely be quite surprised... I mean it's cheap as chips to order one from pbtech tomorrow on sale, convince them to grab one to test out. At worst they're down like $360. Chilling_Silence (9)
1356174 2013-10-17 12:02:00 Do pbtech deliver to Brisbane?

That aside, they have their nominated criteria. If I can't find something to suit then I'll just make no further recommendations. Its outside the scope of my current role I just want to steer them away from Apple, Because in a worse case scenario I will have to use the system as well, and I do now want to have a tablet forced on me that's as useless as they phone they gave me.

1356175 2013-10-17 13:01:00 Nah just buy direct from the Play Store in Aus. Chilling_Silence (9)
1356176 2013-10-18 05:12:00 I would +1 the Nexus 7 II 2013. It is very durable - I saw a drop test on the face, back and corner onto concrete and the tablet survived. 7 inch is the perfect size for me - I found 10 inch to big to be carrying around everywhere.. Nexus 7 fits in my pockets easily. Cost me just over $300 via youshop (US play store). sahilcc7 (15483)

+1 I got one of these for my wife who is rather tech phobic and she loves it. I set it up for her but now I am not permitted to touch it.

1356178 2013-10-18 06:22:00 Give them the standard "Apple" talk of "The customer doesn't actually know they want it until we give it to them" ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
1356179 2013-10-18 06:50:00 As a possible suggestion, why not get 2 iPads and 2 Nexus 7s (or one of each if that's cheaper) and get the guys to use them in the field for a week and give you their feedback as to which would be best suited to their requirements. I know the NZ Police did a big pilot trial over a 6 month period down on the west coast with iPads and possibly other devices as well before they decided to outfit their cops with iPads. I gather they also looked at their internal systems to see how well they would work with the devices before they put them out in the wild.

I've googled and there are some Android to iTunes apps that you can get that should allow you to sync a Nexus back to your main system via iTunes (if required)

Because thats a dumb **** idea and my intent isn't to look like a twat.

Unless you want to pay for 4 devices that have already been removed from the equation for not meeting the basic criteria.
