| 1356807 | 2013-10-22 19:32:00 | My car has windscreen washing built in, if washing is needed it's just a flick of a lever for the front or a button push to deal with the back. Given that most cars have this, it seems motorists would have to be tired in the extreme to have contractors do the job, and hazard prone to arrive at an intersection with a dirty screen. Of course, if these layabouts called themselves consultants, the council would pay the $100 / hr and patronising the "service" would be compulsory. Think how many orange signs and cones Metla's industry could deploy for this - oh the joy of it all. (The cyclists might moan a bit, but they're pretty good at that anyway.) ;) |

It's not hard....you say no and they generally leave you alone. Once or twice I had my window washed anyway but hey, I didn't pay them so it all works out. |

I stopped with a friend a few times, got out and had a chat with them, even helped them once or twice (Ugh hated that, felt so wrong). Every single one was just using it to supplement their benefit income, of the 5 (I think) unique times I did it (Spoke with maybe 11-12 people all up coz they always do it in pairs). My friend stuck around and kept chatting with them one day, cops showed up, $50 fine each... They'd made over $400 already that Saturday afternoon and carried on for another hour or so. He split the "earnings" with my friend and he took home a casual $150 after paying the fine. Not bad for a couple hours easy cash work in the sun really :-/ |
