290272 2004-11-11 02:09:00 Did you watch the parade on TV1 for the "unknown warrior" this morning? The female commentator was really interesting to listen to. I didn't know much about WW1, nor how many died. I'm really proud of our servicemen and their marching today was brilliant. pulling hair out (4493)
290273 2004-11-11 03:11:00 I wonder what they will do for 11/11/2018.

The French could have stopped the insanity that became the Great War.

The French ego cost us so many lives.

The French insistence on such massive reparations and unworkable restrictions, in the treaty signed at versaie.

Gurranteed the events to come 20 years and 10 months later.

Our family gave members to both these insane conflicts.

The lesson still has not been learned: unnessecary great international embarassment, or loss of face, merely to feed national Ego. Will result in some form of reciprication.

The French have been invaded, & defeated twice last century, lost in Indo-China, Algeria etc etc. When will they realise that only they think they are in the 1st world, & others care about what they have to say?

290275 2004-11-11 07:53:00 Good on you Andrew. I meant to post Armistice Day earlier myself.

They shall not grow old as we grow old
And at the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We will remember them.

290276 2004-11-11 08:05:00 They shall not grow old

As we who are left grow old

Age shall not wearie them

Nor the years condemm

At the going down of the sun

And in the morning

We will remember them

We will remember them.

And more importantly, why?

And interesting link about the French.
