290213 2004-11-10 11:25:00 today i turn 27... no one may care, i'll get BK chicken probably.... i'm too bloody old for cake and candles and i have no kids or gf... prob just spend some time with the family [like bro/sis]

But anyway ... i posted a topic before... but then i thought... what kewl freeware have people come across. like the best freeware stuff across all categories?

You don't have to say, but it would be nice to see what other ppl reckon.

Now to break in the awareness that i am damn friggin old to even try/bother chatting up most university women with a diet coke, sad huh? :-P

290214 2004-11-10 11:38:00 Captive,

now you got to get you s--t toghter because your just oldenough to be taken seriously and you will find also a lot of 21/2/3 year olds want to play if you behave like intelligently.

27-35 can be a good time to be single.

also time to get a job with a real pay check.

or go O/E again, and get it that way.

290215 2004-11-10 11:43:00 Free, as in freedom or free as in free beer?

Hush lad, stop your moping, 27 seven ain't old. Ahh to be 27 again, fit and naive, still enough teenager in you to believe all sorts of insane (interchange with inane if you like ;) ) things about yourself and your world, hmm...... maybe being an oldish fool and not too fit isn't so bad after all.

Anyways, best freeware:

Your Linux distro of choice (depending on licence),
Spybot S&D,
Irfanview,
Ghostscipt and whatever free PDF conversion/builder tool runs with it,
Windows..oop's no not that one ;\

290216 2004-11-10 11:48:00 A Job with a real paycheck is what i have been trying to do for awhile . . . .

Applied for about 40-80 jobs in the last year . . . . . .

got maybe 5 responses . . . . . . .

chalk that down to about 1 after mentioning mental health

chalk that down to 0 after saying i didnt want to pirate software

still have had some web apps to build and some money to barely survive . . .

your damn right though i reckon i need a job too . . . . spent about 2 hours on job sites last night . . . 2 emails sent for yesterday . . . and update my profile on JobCafe

I reckon JobCafe is a bloody brilliant site . . i noticed they have portfolio thumbnails now so i added some hoping i could get more work [added yesterday will see how it goes]

I Really need to get a real job, a full time one, and in a better position i agree with you there . I'll schedule in to check the jobs again at 6am< when the next batch startup

I guess your probably right though in a way, chances of having a nice GF when you earn <25k is pretty unlikely i would guestimate

290217 2004-11-10 11:53:00 Why Do you reckon Spybot over adaware?

Awhile ago i was doing a PC Clean for someone.......

what Adaware missed, spybot S&D got more of.

Maybe sometimes having multiples is good, well until the tools are the same quality as say AVP's

290218 2004-11-10 11:56:00 Man,

if you have marketable skills go pom land or euro they are crying out for good marketable skills.

then look for a job her from there you will be seen differently because of where you are working.

even try kangaroo land.

nows when you start to make your fat for your old age, you are now also learning that self employment is not a good recomendation on your c.v.

a little journalistic licence may be needed.

no nellies just a little greying.

290219 2004-11-10 11:56:00 While your looking, have a go at building your business up. It can't hurt, you may get the odd knock however, you can add that to your store of experience and can't be worse than bruising your knuckles against prospective employers doors. Perhaps look at ways of expanding your experience/education with a view to making your skills more attractive or adding to the type of work you do for yourself.

It's not necessarily the easy way to go, but can be incredibly rewarding.

290220 2004-11-10 12:00:00 I chose Spybot for the list because it is totally freeware, whereas Adaware is a cut down version of a paid product.

Drb's got a good point, IT's not my field though, so don't know how the land lies apart from what I read.

290221 2004-11-10 12:01:00 multiples is nessecary, noobody get all, all the time, just like life.

I like that A2 with avg and stinger.

backed up with s/sweeper and s/hunter for checking, but it probably is effected by where the unit goes on the net as well.

290222 2004-11-10 12:08:00 thanks for the pep talk guys :-) i have no one for that usually....

i thought about sending out a mailout for ecommerce etc, but pretty much gave up on it... i started thinking people will be like 'who the ... are you, your nobody, your just a joke, your not professional, your not up to standard, your wasting my time, get lost....'

i remember my old man saying things like if you try you wont get there, and now most of my contact is around people that dont motivate me.... i live with people that either dont work, barely want to work, hardly work enough to get by even if long hours......

I started thinking yesterday the sort of place i have put myself in for people around me in terms of conducive to success was a bad choice, but then i choosed to come here, but i should also choose to try and get into a conducive environment to work.

I have even had a few people literally telling me 'you can't work' 'you shouldn't work' 'you'll have to pay it all back' [People who are supposed to be 'helping' me]

and if what i just read about RQ in the last few days is true, thats pretty much shooting me in the foot..... thats if the following info is true.................................

Revisit the same topics when your children are teens, says Ian, and be aware of
the “resilience quotient. First we had IQ, then EQ (the emotional quotient) and
now there’s RQ. The latest message is that kids need RQ – the messages you have
in your head, which help you cope with situations. There are three important
messages: ‘I like myself; there’s no problem so big it can’t be solved, and my
parents like me.’”

Adds Ian: “If you say to them ‘you are an airhead, you’re going to get in a car
with a drunken driver and you’re going to get killed’ – they’ll do it. Instead, say
to them ‘you’re smart, alcohol is dangerous, you’ll never get in a car with a drunk
driver...’” Make a contract that you will agree to pick them up from a party
without subjecting them to the third degree.
