290555 2004-11-11 06:51:00 I go to two elderly people to help them with their computers. Their specs. state they have 128MB RAM, but when I run Aidia the amount of RAM is shown as 119MB, which I my book does not compute. Can you explain this discrepancy please., Pamela (6036)
290556 2004-11-11 06:53:00 They may have an 8mb videocard, which the system will use. That might be where the other 8-9 mb has gone. Spacemannz (808)

290558 2004-11-11 07:32:00 I agree it might be the shared RAM for the video but have you checked the RAM by going into the BIOS? andrew93 (249)
290559 2004-11-11 08:17:00 Thank you for your reply. I will check out the video card. Pamela (6036)
290560 2004-11-11 08:39:00 This is common.

1 MB commonly gets reserved for the system, and 8 MB for on board graphics.

That makes 9 MB, 9 + 119 = 128 MB.

There is nothing wrong or needing fixing.
