291108 2004-11-12 23:54:00 howdy,
im wondering, should i get these "enhanced" omega drivers or should i just get the latest ati drivers, because at the moment i just have the drivers that were on the disk that came with my GeCube Radeon 9600se. Is there any performance boost in using these omega drivers?, i had them awhile ago and after a format i havent installed them again because i wondered was it really necessary. i know that these omega drivers have overclocking abilities, but apart from that is it worth getting these drivers? does anyone have these drivers installed? and is there a performance increase? and do you recommend using these drivers
TIA

291110 2004-11-13 02:07:00 I doubt you'll notice much performance difference unless you are overclocking. But try it and see - if they don't work for you then install the ATI drivers.

291111 2004-11-13 21:40:00 I would definately recommend it, I use them, and have done for over 8 months. I notice you mentioned that you have a 9600se, the Omega drivers will let you 'soft-mod' that card into a 9600 pro, giving you a huge performance boost.
However, if you don't play games, then there's no point in installing them, as you won't get any benefit from 2D applications.

a 9600pro?? are you sure about that?
i just checked out the ati site and found the comparision chart (sal.neoburn.net)
the 9600pro has 128bit memory interference where as the 9600se only has 64bit, also the engine clock from the pro is 400Mhz compared to the 325mhz from the SE, so your teling me that it can become a pro??, it would be good if it could. yes i am a bit of a gamer
what card are you running your omega drivers on?

291113 2004-11-13 23:01:00 Only mention of "soft-mods" I could find in the omega drivers was for 9700 and 9800 - no mention of the 9600.
