291079 2004-11-12 21:02:00 Hey,

My xtra plan anniversary was the 12th of November. I was assured by Telecom that I would be rolled over to the new 2mbit plan on this day as I was on 256k Flat Rate before that.

This however has not happened. I've restarted (and left it off) my router about 20 times, sometimes leaving it off for up to 3hours to see if thats all it took.

However speed tests and router settings confirm im still on 256k.
Anyone else experienced this?

291080 2004-11-12 21:08:00 I'm assuming that it changes when your current billing period rolls over? If so, count yourself lucky - I have to wait until Nov 20! :_|

And if your experience is anything to go by, it might take even longer...

291082 2004-11-12 21:39:00 No problems here. Rolled over fine on my billing date. Shaun Minfie (2961)
291083 2004-11-13 04:25:00 I have also had problems with the change to a new XTRA plan. It was supposed to change on 12th NOV.but DID NOT HAPPEN! I phoned Telecom in WELLINGTON and was told that they did not know why it had not happened and that I would have to wait till12th DEC.for the change to be effected.I phoned AUCKLAND asking to speak to the CEO of XTRA and after a long delay (listening to crappy MUSAK!) I was advised that it would happen yesterday or today.
I AM STILL WAITING! Watch this space

291084 2004-11-13 05:56:00 Firstly - Go here and do a speed test, sometimes you might only download at 256k speeds but that could be a server side issue (you'll find that some servers have higher download rates than others).

nzdsl.co.nz

Secondly - Are yo going by the date from the Telecom Usage meter/ your Telecom Bill as opposed to those on Xtra, the date on my Xtra usage plan is different.

Your speeds should look something like this-

291085 2004-11-13 05:57:00 Didn't read the last bit of your post, ignore the speed test thing. fiveonefive (1019)
291086 2004-11-13 06:19:00 I am currently on the XTRA 500 Full Speed Plan (Broadband using an ADSL Router) and want to change to the 1Gb plan.
I have been assured it is approx. just as fast but I get double the download allowance and it is MUCH cheaper, namely $44.95 per month versus $59.95 per month.
That is the main reason I want to change.
I am aware of the speed test meter but have been told it is not always accurate

291087 2004-11-13 17:00:00 If you check your usage on the Telecom site then that will tell you what plan you are on this month, (and if it is to change) what the name of the plan you will be on next month.

Mine is due to change on the 18th. At the moment it is called Surf but will change to explorer. No speed or cap change so no impact but at least I can see when it will happen on their system rather than relying on what someone told me.

291088 2004-11-13 20:20:00 Hmm... My Xtra usage meter says that I will be on Surf next month as well... To be honest I am very dissapointed with Xtra. I rung 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week, 3 days and the day before my switchover (as i get #$^$ed over every time, and never changed over till about 2 months later).

And yet I'm not changed over as I should be, nor does it look like i will be in December.... They did give me a credit though........ Still I'm not happy, been looking forward to this for ages (in fact I was the first to post about the new plans on PF1)
