290919 2004-11-11 21:04:00 I personally would like to see it go as there's hardly any purpose of having it. It's really useless, even parking meter doesn't accept it. SKT174 (1319)
290920 2004-11-11 21:08:00 5c is as bad as having 99c lol. Whats the point of having things costing 5.99 or something. Spacemannz (808)

The ones round here won't accept $10.00 notes either. Your suggestion is?

290922 2004-11-11 21:52:00 i don't rightly care one way or another. if it stays, it stays. if it goes, no tears from me Megaman (344)
290923 2004-11-11 21:55:00 With the amount of people using EFTPOS and credit cards nowadays, cash sales account for a tiny proportion of today's transactions.

I know that the store where I work part-time rounds figures down if paid in cash - ie. $5.99 becomes $5.95 if paid in cash, simply to keep customers happy. It would be interesting to see what happens once the 5c is removed, will they round up to $6.00, or down to $5.90?

290926 2004-11-11 22:46:00 I heard on the radio this morning, that a local store makes about $250 a week simply from the rounding on cash sales. somebody (208)
290927 2004-11-11 23:44:00 I never use real money any more - always eftpos even when buying a can of coke, When my parents owe me money i just get them to deposit it. ApeNz (4220)

I bet most of that "profit" would be taken from them by all the kids/people using their EFT-POS cards for 25 or fifty cent purchases like my lot do. :p :D
