290890 2004-11-13 23:00:00 Extensions are little add-ons which other Firefox users have written which enhance the capabilites of the browser - eg. there is a Gmail notifier, extensions which let you use download managers etc. All are free, and can be downloaded from: update.mozilla.org

And to hijack this thread slightly, does anyone know how to override no-right-click restrictions people put on their sites using Javascript? It gets annoying when you can't open a link in a new tab. (I'm on Firefox 1.0)

ok... I 've managed to find the solution myself.
In about:config, change
dom. event. contextmenu. enabled (which will be set to "True")
to "False".

That's a great question - I take special delight in copying photos that are right-click/save disabled ]:)

In your circumstance though all you need to do is enable the middle button function to open a new tab when you use it to click on a link

290893 2004-11-13 23:15:00 Thanks Greg. I found the solution (posted above), however the middle-click idea seems quite useful.

Since I have a 2 button scroll mouse, would the scroll wheel be the "middle button"??

Yeah you got it just before I posted.

Thanks 'Somebody'. I am have gone to the web page and am now looking at what to download.

Firefox is installed and working OK. I like it, but so far do not see if it is any better than Netscape 7.

290896 2004-11-14 02:41:00 really gooooooood, tabbed browsing works fine as does the rest of firefox. I am on dial up and this morning downloaded a zone alarm pro update and firefox downloaded it at a constant rate of 4.2 kbs sec. IE never gets that fast....so firefox rocks

:D :D :D :D :D :D

thats just my experience, since using firefox everything has been better, pages load faster, much faster downloads and generally a much more pleasent experience than IE has ever given.

290897 2004-11-14 02:51:00 What about Firefox 1 . 0 vs Opera 7 . 54?

Is it worth changing?

I find Opera to be a quality and speedy browsing experience . . .

Have you ever tried Firefox? If not, why not give it a whirl so that you can compare them directly . Remember tho, anything new/different needs a good try out before being sentenced :D

But it all comes down to using whatever browser that offers you what you need, YMMV :p

290899 2004-11-14 05:12:00 Been using it for about 15 minutes...

First impressions - good, clean interface - easy to configure etc. Definately faster than IE 6 but I would say on par with Opera 7.54

Does not work with ANZ internet banking with logon issues.

I've found it not as customisable as Opera so far (eg I like tab bar along the bottom and more freedom with toolbar placement) - maybe with some extensions/addons/themes etc. this can be improved.
