Assuming the MBoard supports dual channgel and DDR2, is it better to use 2 sticks of 256 MB (dual channel) or just one stick of 512 MB DDR2?

Which configuration gives better results?

290791 2004-11-14 03:35:00 Sorry, it should be 2 sticks of DDR (2 x 256) dual channel vs 1 stick of DDR2 (512 MB)? bk T (215)

Two sticks would yield slightly better results. I reckon 2 x 512mb is the sweet spot for the moment.

DDR2 boards are only on Intel with the new chipsets and a system like that would be quite expensive because you'd have to upgrade your CPU, RAM, Video card (PCIe) and motherboard all at once! You interested in that are you?

Well if you only put in 1 stick then it wont be dual channel and you will lose the speed you would have got if it had been dual channel. You need to get 2 sticks otherwise they are just expensive singles.
