290711 2004-11-13 23:11:00 I have installed WORD and EXCEL from Office 2003Pro on a computer with ME, CPU233, RAM 160Mb. It installed without a hitch and runs well. I have not tried to install the entire Office 2003 program.
I have also installed EXCEL from Office 2003 Pro on an old computer running Win98, CPU100, RAM 16Mb. It was slow to install but runs well and does most of the things that it should do but would probably be slow if you got into some of the more complicated procedures. I did this as a bit of a joke thinking that I would end up with a mess that would require wiping and reloading. I was very surprised when it loaded and worked!
If you browse through several "readmes" which are part of EXCEL you will find that it will run on Win98 and that it is the same as in Office2000 and Office97. This leads me to believe that MS are taking a leaf out of the motor manufacturers book i.e. they are putting out the same basic model year after year, adding a few frills, giving it a new name, calling it a new model and charging a price that would be appropriate for a new model!!!!
