2004-11-12 19:59:00 | What do you recommend for general business and personal use. I have a laptop and a desktop, but need somthing to keep me on track with appointments and so on when not using either computer. I have wifi internet at home. I am looking at the Palm T5 or the Ipaq hx 4700 or rx3417. Any ideas? Or doesn't it really matter, is it just personal preference? e.g some like Palm and some like Ipaq, but they are fundamentaly the same, but with slightly different options.

2004-11-12 20:40:00 | I personally like palm os to work with, but from what i can see ipaq's are more aimed at the sort of high tech gizmo end of the market whereas palms are more general use organisers | lagbort (5041) | |
2004-11-12 21:53:00 | I have both. But I tend to you the Palm most If it's only for appointments etc the Palm is adequete. Palm OS is not as bloated as the MS Pocket PC (or whatever they've renamed it to) and things run that much zippier. ANd the battery lasts farm far longer on my Palm. But if you need all the extra feature of the Pocket PC, go for that. | POTUS (5276) | |

At the top end you can still choose between Palm, Windows and other OSes. |

2004-11-12 23:20:00 | Actually, while i'm on it does anyone have any opinions on the older style palms and ipaqs, such as the palm m5xx series or the ipaq 19xx, 2xxx series? are they worth buying second hand or are they just too old and limited. | jabba (3215) | |
2004-11-12 23:30:00 | My current, every day, handheld is a Handspring Visor Edge. It is discontinued but it does everything I need it to. It's very slim is amde of light metal. It cost me about $65 on TradeMe a month or so ago. | POTUS (5276) | |
2004-11-13 02:53:00 | i use a palm zire 72 for day to day work, but for the smae thing minus the camera and a few other multimedia features you can get the zire21 which is a good solid colour screen organiser, or the zire1 which is the bare basic organiser, black and white etc | lagbort (5041) | |
2004-11-13 04:48:00 | do you find the 32mb ram limiting? thats another thing I'm not sure about, some say rom some say ram, some volitile, some non-volitile...whats the best.? | jabba (3215) | |
