Laura, the appearance of Mod icons beside our names in our posting history is due to our user details changing. Whenever you change your user details, this is automatically reflected across all previous posts made under that name. You might of noticed this if you changed your "From:" details and then called up a post you made from one month ago - it too will now display your new location details. History is not being rewritten, rather it is being kept up to date. :)

292347 2004-11-15 19:09:00 Thanks Jen for the explanation.

My picky historian comments related to the fact that posts made when you & Chill weren't known as Mods now have symbols which look as though everyone could see that then.

But that's not true.
And some posts may have been different if people knew what we know now...

Changing details retrospectively distorts the reality of the emotions involved at the time.
( If nobody ever wants to check back on that those threads, it doesn't matter, of course)

Oh for sure, but you've also got to realize that works both ways, in that now myself an Jen are going to be viewed by n00bs as "They mods" and it looks like we've been mods forever.... Not true though :-/

Nothing that can be done about it so Im not going to cry over spilt milk, IYKWIM :-)

292349 2004-11-15 22:41:00 Hi Jen & Chill. Delighted to have you overview the chat. Have you worked out rules between yourselves? Will each of you consult with the other before padlocking a posting? Will the padlock be accompanied by an indication of which of you did the deed? Mod1 or Mod2, etc. Will we know? Regards and good wishes. Scouse (83)

292351 2004-11-15 23:01:00 could we maybe have a email account that both Jen & Chill have access to?

this can be one place for all email to Moderator, so we can send mail saying "this thread is getting out of hand could you check it"

maybe a gmail account that you both know the password for?

So you want to be a Moderator as well now.
Why don't you just let them do their job, I am sure if they need any help they will ask for it.

You'll find most of the newer forums have a "Report Thread to Moderators" function. Moderators cannot keep track of or read all forum threads. That is not their job. It is the collective who will have to report any threads getting out of hand and requesting a moderator's assistance.
