C'mon man! It wasn't that bad! I made a bit of a dig, sure - just because I infer that the guy acts like a girl's blouse isn't so offensive. Look at his post earlier where he implied he was subject to his wife's choice, and his "decision" not to rely on the worthy advice from this thread, tells that my comment wasn't completely unwarranted.

Sheesh... Laugh a little! We're kiwi men after all, aren't we?

Sorry Greg, but you'll have to bear with me. It'll take some time for me to come down to that level.

Matt, please accept my apologies. You'll find that forums are a bit like a conversation on a street corner - you'll over hear all sorts of things you really don't won't to.

292098 2004-11-14 23:38:00 Grag S - A little bit of a dig at a complete strangers expence is not nice. Calling thme "a girls blouse" is not nice. i didn't say that the ultimate decision rests with my wife. I guess you're either single or a chauvanist? Either way you don't understand that most couples/families tend to consult each other before a major purchase. I respect my wife and I respect her judgement - she protects me from the child within. We will make the coice together, perhaps even with input from our kids. And I haven't made the decision not to take the advice that some have given me, I simply decided not to buy from one of your members partly because he appears unprofessional and parthly because I question how unbiased that advice was. I'm neither single nor, unbelievable as it sounds, a chauvenist . I also totally respect the idea of consultation within a family for major purchases . However . . . it was just a "dig" that I made . . . even my missus would agree to that .

But more to the point, computing just happens to be a male-dominated field because, as it happens, men are from Mars and Women from Venus . . . if you don't understand the analogy, it means that there are certain fields of endeavour and behaviour that men excell at, and visa versa for women . If you don't believe that, then you aren't a girl's blouse at all; you should be wearing one .

So . . . when it comes to buying a computer, big guy, I suggest you take the lead .

292100 2004-11-14 23:49:00 MattG - unfortunately there are some on this forum who are there just to be annoying. They are in no way representative of the greater PressF1 community. On the whole, the vast majority of members are helpful, polite respectable people from all walks of life. We hope that you do not leave because of what you have experienced here today.

I wish you and your family all the best in your hunt for a PC which meets your family's needs.

292101 2004-11-14 23:51:00 Hi ya,

I would recomend going back to metla's shop and talking to him . even if you dont buy from him he does, when serious have some good info and reasons behind why you should get what parts, etc, or even a whole comp .

I am pleased with my new babe, Peach (comps name) and reccomned him to all people about here, who are on the lookout for new parts or comps .

personally i think he is a teddie bear hiding behind a grizzly bear frontage,
looks can be deceiveing and as most wanganui people agree, you will get more bang for your buck and better after sales service if you go local company and not with a generic brand name shop, ive been bitten that way before .

but i would shop around, if you really think other wise, but dont get a warehouse PC, not all cracked up as the meant to be, even though the price sounds good .

now there are also a few other pf'1 ers in wang, drop them a line, or post for them on here, they will tell you who's who and who not to use . ( or me)

but i vote for metla, best sale i have ever had, best after sales service and he goes the extra mile, but then i ve known him a bit lionger and find i can ask him anything .

i would go back and buy another pc off him anyday, and i dont think he'll be closing in a hurry either .
Ive been burnt by the big stores, and another small comp company so i was weary to .

let us know how you get on .

1 Like I said before the guy's here helping out with comp problems not advertising his shop. Free to bounce around like anybody, not act out the professional.

2. Do you think there's a conspiracy of people here to get others to buy from one of the posters? Very unlikely. Most of us haven't a clue who/where other ppl are and are unlikely to ever do.

Good luck to you and yr family and I hope you have fun with the comp. :D

I completely disagree. There is nothing which says or proves that men are better at making computer buying decisions. Consultation with family members on purchases of any kind is the key to keeping the peace and is what makes up 99% of happy families today. Although Greg, you may take the lead in your household, Matt has chosen to do what he thinks is right, and you must respect that.
