| 292248 | 2004-11-18 06:29:00 | > but the password in the Internet options/ connections > is still getting changed. I have typed in a password > 6 characters long, close the window & open it again > straight away and the password is now 9 characters. > Any ideas as to what is causing it and what I do > next? There is no diallers showing in the start up. win xp puts extra dots in the password field in order that others can't guess how many characters the password actually is. if you can still dial up to your isp with the "hijacked" password then what you have described sounds normal - it is your password with extra dots added. |

| 292251 | 2004-11-18 07:33:00 | Hmm that igfxtray according to google has something to do with intel graphic drivers or something, BUT also says its spyware, or something that "phones home". Untick this entry in startup. Hkcmd has something to do with igfxtray. Untick this too. Untick those 2, then reboot. Then see what happens. I dont know what autoplay belongs to, or recquard. Theyre not in my startup. |

| 292253 | 2004-11-18 09:43:00 | Success! Now able to log onto net. The post about XP adding extra dots to my password was correct. My fault there. Was starting my password with capital - should be all small (doh) Sorry about that. Spybot removed 88 items and Adaware found another 5. Ccleaner removed 370.4Mb rubbish and found 120 issues to fix. Now running much better. Still need to tell her to get more ram. Definitely needs it. Once again thanks for the help. | Peter M (852) | ||
| 292254 | 2004-11-18 09:54:00 | If it makes anyone feel better, or worse, or interested, I have 3 Celeron 333's running Windows XP with 128MB of RAM. They run fine. George |
