292221 2004-11-15 03:09:00 I've been having a bit of trouble connecting to my ISP (QUIK).
When I hit the Keyboard "Mail" button or click on the OE ikon it dials up OK and I get the message "Verifying user name and password" Then nine times out of ten it just times out. On the second or third try it will connect.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I don't think the trouble is at my end.
Win xp with SP2.

292222 2004-11-15 03:14:00 If u use an email virus scanning program, this can cause timeouts.

Or a firewall, this can also cause timeouts

292224 2004-11-15 09:18:00 Hi Jack
I been on quik since july 2001 and have had that same problem on and off.
My local guy is great and will even talk to me for half an hour or so.
But we always come up with the same conclusion:
The internet and peak and off peak.
My biggest trouble with connection is between 4pm and 9:30pm.

Not much damn help for u but just a tought.

cheers merlin-nz ;-)

292225 2004-11-15 09:27:00 ClearNet is the same for me. "Your computer and the distant computer cannot agree on PPP protocols" drives me round the bend. "The remote computer has hung up" is another. "No Answer" less common. After about the fourth try it connects with no changes from me. zqwerty (97)
292226 2004-11-15 09:35:00 All the problems on this thread indicate overloaded ISP networks. Too many customers for the available lines, modems and bandwidth.
The solution is obvious.
